Petrolimex and GEAPP partner to enhance capacity in technical analysis for renewable energy projects

On December 17, 2025, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex/Group) collaborated with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to organise a training programme on technical and financial analysis for renewable energy projects. The initiative aims to develop a core team at Petrolimex capable of independently implementing and managing clean energy projects in the future.
The programme was conducted in a hybrid format—combining in-person and online attendance—with the participation of staff from various Group departments and representatives from 34 member petroleum companies. This initiative aims to equip Petrolimex personnel with the knowledge and skills required for technical analysis, financial modeling, and performance evaluation of renewable energy projects, specifically focusing on solar power and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Through this, Petrolimex will gradually take a proactive role in renewable energy development while enhancing its investment decision-making capabilities.
Speaking at the event, Petrolimex Deputy General Director Nguyen Sy Cuong emphasised that the transition to renewable energy is an inevitable requirement for the energy sector and a responsibility of a pillar enterprise like Petrolimex. To realise this objective, high-quality human resources—possessing expertise in technical analysis, finance, and risk management for renewable energy projects—are identified as a key factor. The Deputy General Director urged participants to engage with a serious mindset, listen attentively, and actively interact with experts to fully acquire knowledge, thereby applying it effectively to the Group’s production and business operations in the future.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh, Country Director of GEAPP Vietnam, highly commended the strategic vision of Petrolimex’s leadership in proactively preparing for the energy transition, particularly their emphasis on investing in human resource training and development. Through this programme, GEAPP focused its contributions on three key areas: sharing practical experiences while providing modern analytical tools, financial models, and risk management expertise for clean energy projects; providing investment guidance to help participants gain a comprehensive understanding of renewable energy and storage technologies suited to the conditions and potential of both Vietnam and Petrolimex; and establishing a starting point for a long-term partnership aimed at building a solid foundation for future clean energy project development.
Building on the multifaceted cooperation between Petrolimex and GEAPP over recent times, this training programme is expected to deliver practical results in enhancing professional capacity and driving the research, investment, and implementation of clean energy projects. This will contribute to realising the Group’s sustainable energy transition strategy and the nation’s climate targets.
